NEW and IMPROVED FOCUS Leadership Course – for Venturers and Rovers

Central Escarpment Council is offering the FOCUS Youth Leadership Course on the March 31- April 2 weekend at Camp Manitou in Milton, ON. The FOCUS course is a for-youth, by-youth (and youth-led!) leadership course that focuses on developing skills such as teamwork, project management, problem solving, and more, through engaging outdoor activities with other youth from across and even outside of the Council! This course is a great way to develop your skills, meet some fab new friends, and have tons of fun! Click here for the FOCUS 2017 flyer!

Please note that all youth who are wishing to attend CJ as Offers of Service need to take this course as a requirement!

You can submit your intent to register here (note that you are not fully registered until we receive your registration fee, training application form, and completed 2016-2017 registration and medical form for each person attending). Please submit your intent to register by February 17th, 2017. The training application form can be found here. Please register individually. We must receive your registration fee and paper by mail no later than March 3rd, 2017.

All registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please send your training material to the Course Registrar at: 4601 Westbourne Terrace, Mississauga, ON, L5R 1X9. You will receive an email confirming your place in the course once your paperwork has been processed.

Appointment Announcement - Yellow Briar Area Youth Commissioner

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Max Gunter as the Area Youth Commissioner for Yellow Briar Area, effective immediately.

Max is currently a 1st Bolton Venturer, where he has been the treasurer of the Company for the past year.  Max has spent eight years in Scouting having started as a white tail Beaver, and along the way has taken on multiple volunteer roles in Scouting, including helping out at the annual Campcraft Cub Camp and showing initiative in working with the Area Youth Network to plan in the absence of an Area Youth Commissioner in the last two months. Additionally, he has taken on the role of co-course leader for the upcoming FLEX/FAST Training Course being hosted by Credit Hills and Yellow Briar in the fall.  Outside of Scouting, Max is involved with multiple bands in high school as well as being a part of the Humberview Alpha Dogs Robotics Team.

I would also like to acknowledge Raymond Hanley for his time spent as Yellow Briar’s Area Youth Commissioner, and wish him luck in the future.

Appointment Announcement - Mississauga Area Youth Commissioner

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Shaughna Boara to the position of Mississauga Area Youth Commissioner, effective June 7th, 2015.Shaughna is currently a Rover Scout with 6th Erin Mills, as well as a Pack Scouter with their Cub Pack. She is also currently an active member of both Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada, having started in Guiding in 1998 and joining Scouting in 2012. Shaughna is studying at Ryerson University, working towards her Bachelor of Radio and Television Arts. She is also the co-camp chief for the upcoming Quidditch Moot in June 2015.
 
I would also like to thank outgoing Area Youth Commissioner Margaux Thornton for her dedication to the role over the past two and a half years, and wish her continued success as she studies at CMU College of Makeup Art and Design.

Appointment Announcement - Wellington Area Youth Commissioner

I am pleased to announce the appointment of David Van Ommen as the Area Youth Commissioner for Wellington Area, effective June 7th, 2015.

David is currently a Venturer Scout with 27th Guelph Scout Group where he serves as the Company President. He has been involved in Scouting for twelve years, having started as a Beaver Scout with 27th Guelph. David has a lot of volunteer experience, having offered his time helping with triathlons at Guelph Lake since 2008, food services at the last Canadian Jamboree in Alberta, and he has been a Group Youth Commissioner since October.

I would also like to thank outgoing Area Youth Commissioner Ryan Borho for his service to Wellington over the past three years, and wish him continued success as he pursues his interests in the culinary arts.
